Keystone’s Public Report Survey

In the period 20 July – 10 August 2009 we conducted a survey of all of Keystone’s constituents - everyone with whom we have interacted professionally since the organisation’s creation.

The survey forms the backbone of Keystone’s public report: Keystone Accountability 2004-2009 - Constituency voice: linking the means and the ends of social change .

The report of the survey, entitled What You Told Us: The 2009 Keystone Constituency Survey Report, is an integral part of our impact planning, assessment and learning system, which helps us to improve our performance. It is also part of our commitment to open and transparent public reporting.

The survey inquired about the perceptions of our constituents on the current state of constituency voice in the development sector, as well as their opinion of Keystone’s contributions to the field.

The feedback we received on our work was encouraging, although as we suspected, the current state of constituency voice is not as you and we would like it to be. Most respondents felt that development organisations around the world are not enabling constituency voice to a sufficient extent.

We are aware that the survey results have a selection bias, based as they are on that sample of the development community that has prior contact with Keystone. Our friends may have been more likely to take the time to response. However we feel that the number of responses means that the results are still reasonably representative of the field of philanthropy and development. We have gained significantly from the insightful comments and suggestions received and we are committed to utilizing the feedback provided by our constituents to improve the quality of our work. We also received a variety of comments about how we could improve our work.

We would highly appreciate your feedback on the results of the survey. Take a look and let us know what you think. Please use the space provided for comments at the bottom of this page.
