Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations and Keystone Workshop at the CIVICUS 2007 World Assembly

Glasgow, Scotland
On Saturday 26 May 2007, Keystone in collaboration with the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) presented a training workshop during the CIVICUS 2007 World Assembly in Glasgow. The workshop titled: “Working with new approaches to monitoring, evaluation and accountability for sustainable social change” was facilitated by Keystone Senior Advisor Andre Proctor and brought together 20 organisations from around the world serious about applying new ways to plan, learn and account for the impact they have on the well-being of the people they work with and for.
The workshop started with a survey and discussion of some of the new approaches and methods currently available. Participants were introduced in the methodology of developing a theory of change, mapping constituents and other stakeholders and communicating publicly through a series of group activities. The workshop ended with a decision by the participants to form a “learning community” to support their respective efforts to apply the principles highlighted during the workshop.
The group also agreed to come together again at the CIVICUS 2008 World Assembly to exchange experiences and assess progress made. Keystone will facilitate the learning community and will create a mailing group as well as a wiki where participants can come and comment on the methodologies and share their experiences with the rest of the group. The community is open to all citizen organisations committed to applying the principles discussed in the workshop.
